Ly sealed after reading all the Dark Swan novels Upon hearing that it was available in graphic novel form I started pestering the comic book store in Johannesburg South Africato special order them for me I live in Durban so it meant travelling to another city halfway across the country just to get my hands on these beauties but it was certainly worth the effort Whilst I fell in love with Eugenie s strength and fierce determination in the novels the graphic novels brought her to life and made the worlds from my imagination a vivid almost palpable reality I would strongly suggest this book and series to anyone who enjoys a strong female protagonist and a great story started vary slow but picked up in the end Comic book adaptations of popular novels seems to be the rage these days The Mercy Thompson series has one and I now there are others out now and even coming out this year I ve never read one before today but I was approached last week about reading this and thought I d give it a tryThe main reason I did accept this reuest was because I have not read the series by Richelle Mead that this was based off of so I wouldn t be making comparisons about what might have been left out or changed around like what happens with movie adaptations I came into this with a clean slate And I m glad I did because the first issue of Storm Born makes me want to run out to my bookstore to see if they have the first book Eugenie seems like a woman with a strong moral compass who is also badass and can hand it out when it s needed I ll definitely be eager to see of her in comic form. Genie finds herself fighting off unwanted supernatural suitors as well as the evils that begin emerging from her past.

I received a preview of this graphic novel from Sea Lion BooksThe art was wonderful and the story was greatEugenie Markham never asked for any of this Until now she s been content with her job as a freelance shaman battling and banishing Otherworldly creatures When a prophecy suddenly makes her the Otherworld s most popular bachelorette Eugenie finds herself fighting off unwanted supernatural suitors as well as the evils that begin emerging from her past Let me first say I have not read the Dark Swan series but sincereading this issue I ll definitely be checking it out now That s how much I loved these issuesIn all three issues they have gorgeous artwork I love pretty thingsand I hate to say it but usually that s the first thing I look forin a graphic novel Sad but true I could tell by the cover that theinsides were going to be pretty let me insert other adjectives herestunning beautiful dazzling lovely etc etc Eugenie looks sexy without being overly sexual It s nice to see acharacter who looks badass in a t shirt and jeans and not spandex andblack leather Don t get me wrong love black leather and spandexbut there s a such thing as too much of a good thing yeahI do think there were times when her facial expressions could havebeen cleaned up a bit and others when just a little detail wasneededLike I said I ve never read the novels but I think the comic versiondoes an excellent job at storytelling I never got a moment where Ifelt lost or bored for that matter It was also very easy to pick upthe next issue and jump straight back into Eugenie s worldMy only ualm is. Eugenie Markham never asked for any of this Until now she's been content with her job as a freelance shaman battling.

At the very beginning of the first issue I wasn tsure if I had skipped a few parts into the story or if the storyactually started there It was uite apparent after a few pages inthat that was how the comic started offFor issues 1 3 I give it five stars Can I times infinity it YesI m very excited for issue 4 nowThis review is for all three issues that are out now of the Dark Swan Series 35 stars The art was mediocre but come on It s Richelle Mead You can t go wrong with Richelle Mead While I m a big fan of the Vampire Academy and Georgina Kincaid I have yet to start Mead s Dark Swan series So when I got the chance to review the graphic novel I jumped at the chanceThe first issue propels you right into the thick of Eugenie Markham s life as she cast a powerful ghost from a ordinary shoe Issue 1 is fast paced and the energy was great I loved the start of this story I wish I picked this one up long before now Eugenie is everything I like in my heroines mouthy and ick ass The art pops off the page Especially the look of Eugenie I think she is captured better here then in the mass market book covers Whether you are a fan of graphic novels or the Dark Swan series you won t want to miss this one I have read this series probably 10 times and I wish you would come out with one book It s so good Hugely entertaining and looks stunning on the iPad Brought through Comixology Well worth a read I am an avid fan or Richelle Mead and have religiously read everything that she has published My love affair with this author started with the first Vampire Academy book but was firm. And banished Otherworldly creatures When a prophecy suddenly makes her the Otherworld's most popular bacherlorette Eu.
