EBOOK READ A Vault of Sins Chaos Theory #2 – latinboyz4play.com
Vivors as they battle the government and try to deal with the motional toll all of this has created It was fast paced fascinating and had this reader holding her breath Harian further develops the relationship between Evalyn and Casey Valarie and Evalyn struggle with what they did wrong and suffer survivor s guilt They readily accept that they should have died in the Compass Room but are fighting for those who should have walked I was happy to see the characters fleshed out and while the romance continues it is a side dish to the overall ARC We still have unanswered uestions and I am anxious for the final bookFull review posted at Caffeinated copy received from publisherThis review was originally posted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer This is a crazy crazy series and I m totally loving it Now I ve kind of messed up my own reading order and totally skipped Our Broken Sky because when I started reading A Vault of Sins I thought I was reading Our Broken Sky I Winters Passage (The Iron Fey, evenmailed my friends and was all like Um guys this book isn t focused on Valerie like at all and then they were like Um Liz you re a dork you re reading the wrong book and I was all like OMG you re right So later I will read Our Broken Sky which is a novella based on Valerie who is a bad as hell character and totally deserves to be readAs for A Vault of Sins this is the second full length book after The Wicked We Have Done In TWWHD I gave it a five star review I loved the horror and mystery with a splash of sci fi In A Vault of Sins it kind of lost me just a smidge This book went to the sci fi spectrum than I like for my own personal tastes There were points in the story that were really kind of crazy for me to follow but I m guessing sci fi people will be over the moon about it As for me I wish it would have went to the horror side of the spectrum But The Replacement Wife either way it s still a pretty awesome storyThe low down for people who have no idea what I m talking about is this In the future if you are a murderer you can get sentenced to something called The Compass Room which is this well place that is highly technical and super scary and can actually kill you The point of the CR is to find out if the murdering side of you is the real you or if it was a circumstantial thing Like do younjoy murdering and will you do it again or did the time and place call for something beyond your control Are you remorseful Are you a danger to society You need to live through a month of tests and deemed fit for society or it s lights out for you and usually in a brutal fashion That s what s so neat about the Compass Room it s out of the control of people and relies on technology and whatever Damned (Witch Hunt else they use to figure you out or so we think Later we discover it s nanotechnology The finer workings of the Compass Room definitely getxamined in Vault of Sins and that s where it gets really sci fi However ven with that it s an incredible story and Sarah Harian definitely has an awesome imaginationAs for the characters we still have our heroine Evalyn Obviously she survived book one but her troubles aren t over because they want to give her Valerie and Casey a retrial Things get pretty hairy and it s definitely stressful and intense for all three of them Evalyn is still kind of the same although she s really picked up a drinking habit at this point but who could blame her She acts in ways that seem a bit selfish but in her mind she does things in order to protect those she cares about The problem with this is that she doesn t stop to consider what the other people in her life want and she actually nds up hurting them Evalyn still feels like a real person to me She has flaws for sure But Hot-Blooded Italians essentially she is good Evalyn is definitely someone I would want on my sideValerie and Casey are also in this book along with some newcomers Valerie is just as awesome as before and Casey well that guy definitely is a keeper He s gone through hell and back multiple times and he is still as steadfast as alwaysThis book will take you on a wild ride for sure If you like sci fi and horror add in some conspiracy theories and taking on the crooked as hell government then you are good to go with this book I would really LOVE to see this made into a movie orven a tv series I think the characters are very Mlynowski Teen Thriller engaging and the specialffects would be mind boggling The story is fast moving and I think it would really appeal to a wide range of audiences Hey there s Reggie even a bit of romance and a woman to woman friendship that blooms under the very worst of circumstances And also if you are into the techy side of things this book also has you covered Of course there s the super advanced nanotechnology I mentioned but there is a group of Hacktivists activist hackers that play a major role inverythingI m still definitely going to keep up with this series The book Switchback ended at a spot where I feel comfortable letting it go but in no way do I want to I m definitely on board to see what happens next There will be spoilers from book oneA Vault of Sins is the second book in the Chaos Theory series by Sarah Harian It is a New Adult dystopian seriesThe book is narrated by Evalyn Ibarra In the first book she was sent to the Compass Room to pay for her crimes The Compass Room is a Hunger Games type place where 18 26 year olds who have been convicted of murder are sent to live for 30 days If they survive they are let go The place is set up to weed outkill those who do not have a moral compass However the Compass Room malfunctioned and in Evalyn s group only three came out alive Evalyn Casey and Valerie They were let goNow they are all free and there is a trial they are suing The weird thing for me re the trial is that we don t get to witness it We are just told about it after the fact Usually this would only be the case if the narrator wasn t present I guess it was just to move the story along But as I was reading I was surprisedThe press is all over Evalyn and her friends Her lawyer Liz does not want them to contactach other Evalyn is having a hard time now that she is out of the Compass Room She develops some bad habitsI Marrying Marcus (Virgin Brides, enjoyed the first book The Wicked We Have Done I really wasn t sure what the second book was going to be about There are various parts to book two We have the beginning with the trial Then there is another part that features a group that would like toxpose what really happened in the Compass Room And then there is the final part of the book view spoilerThe Compass Room J hide spoile. Ing jailWhen she wakes someone is trying to communicate with her in secret through strange and intricate clues As Evalyn follows their signs she uncovers a conspiracy that goes so much deeper than her own ordeal A dangerous intrigue that only she can bring to light One that will force her to work with the one person she doesn’t want to seeThe person who owns her hear.
Originally posted at Vampire Book ClubEvalyn might have thought surviving the Compass Room was the hardest thing she d Belonging (Temptation, ever done It s not Not by a long shot The trial brought on by her accusations that there was a glitch in the Room resulting in the unintentional death of Jace is worse Much much worse Because the nightmares aren t going awaySomeone out there believes her though and wants to help sending her clues in an annoyingly cryptic manner If she follows them she and her fellow survivors might have a shot at beating the system And if she does it means seeing the one person she s hurt over and over again CaseyIn A Vault of Sins Evalyn and company are not doing so well Nightmares weight loss constantly looking over their shoulders because the media won t leave them alonethe constant glare of the spotlight s put pressure on her family too and she s resorted to drinking Three screwdrivers just to get through the morning gin and tonics with dinner beer for breakfast sometimes accompanied by cereal She s painted the victims of the Compass Room over and over again And try as she might she can t forget Casey and she can t stop doubting her feelings Is it really possible to fall in love in sixteen daysI had some trouble in the first book believing the connection between Evalyn and Casey Not so this time around Evalyn s hurt Casey than once with her choices and it shows He s pissed yet can t seem to stop forgiving her anyway There s a sweetness to it because they re able to fullyxplore what they mean to If Im Found (If I Run each other now that they re not trying toscape sociopaths and make believe water But there s also a sense of desperation like they re afraid CaddyGirls everything will be ripped away from them againThere s to Evalyn s friendship with Val too After what happened to Jace Val s probablyven worse off than any of them yet she s holding it together better than Evalyn or Casey Evalyn tries to show her over and over again that she s not alone and she has someone to lean on but Val s the one who Assignment ends up helping Evalyn deal with her issues Seeing how strong she is and knowing just how much pain she s in read the novella Our Broken Sky to fully understand Val s side is kind of painful and I wanted to hug her and make it betterThe technology of the Compass Room fascinated me A lot of it isxplained from the Bots to the trigger objects to the Vault The area beneath Philosophy of Religion each Room that holds all the data recorded and not just what goes on in the Rooms themselves To say any would give away a good portion of the book but what s revealed adds layers and complexity to an already twisted storyThending ties up most of the loose No Respect ends but not all of them and they re danglingnough to be frustrating I m njoying this futuristic world and I hope I get to go back soon 45 stars More reviews and no fluff on the blog A Vault of Sins presents an interesting challenge to review although it retains the gritty and mature flavor of the first book it did feel very much like a sopho middle child in terms of story and character growth As well heavy parallels to Hunger Games did make this feel like an already read title And yet it is an ngaging read Comptia Cysa+ Cybersecurity Analyst Certification Bundle (Exam Cs0-001) even if little happens until thendStory Evalyn is on the outside free of the Compass Room but still laboring under survivor s remorse The world is Economies and Cultures evaluating if the Compass Room glitched or if it performed as it should but only seemed to glitch Evalyn has a choice fight for the truth or roll over and take a settlement from the Compass Room creators to remain silent When she chooses to fight newvidence will surface she will be further alienated from familyfriends due to the publicity of the trial and she will run the risk of being thrown back into a new Compass Room if she can t prove the glitch But there are others who secretly uestion the validity of the Compass Rooms and their resistance will take a pointed interest in Evalyn s surviving Compass Room group Enough to possibly send her back inAs can be seen from the synopsis there are several parallels to Hunger Games and its seuel with a lot of the same problems of a second book that is bridge than story continuation At least with A Vault of Sins Evalyn is very aware of why she would go back in and can make the choice on her own It does raise intriguing uestions but from Designing with Web Standards early on we know what Evalyn s choice would be As wellvents don t move forward really until the last 15% of the book making for a laborious read at timesThe gritty hard Sadies Surrender (Oyster Harbor, edged nature of the first book isscalated here Plenty of drinking and sex to compensate for the horrific Structure Of The Nucleus events of the first book and we are treated continually to Evalyn s obsessive mopey self deprecation The book does have its moments though a confrontation near thend between Evalyn and her love interest Casey about her drinking was First Anthology extremely poignant forxample But this is definitely Evalyn s book Casey Releasing The Power Within Through Spiritual Dynamics ends up an accessory in the same way Peeta was an accessory to Katniss Those loving a strong willed main character will appreciate that distinction though others who prefer a strong male lead may be somewhat frustratedI rate this a strong 35 stars because it kept me invested despite jumping around often and not really focusing on a coherent and smooth flow of story Most of the book is anticipation of the final 10% that s a lot of story to cover until then and it takes awhile for author Harian to put the pieces together that will propel Evalyn to the set up of the third bookI don t typically continue with series I rate less than 4 stars But thedginess of the writing and the promise there are Passage Through Crisis enough toncourage following the series and seeing where Harian will go with Evalyn s storyReviewed from an ARC A Vault of Sins is the second book in the Chaos Theory series by Sarah Harian Just like book one this one grabbed me from the first page and had me wondering how things were going to go for the survivors of the Compass Room CR and Harian doesn t hold anything back In an Science, Technology and Culture effort to not give anything critical away I am going to try to keep this as of an overview and not dive into the details so don t hold it against me Just know that I love this series and you should probably just go read it nowEvalyn is definitely having a hard time adjusting to being outside the CR and while she Casey and Valerie are back in court trying to prove that the government is up to something she isn t really free There is a cloud hanging over their heads because they all know what they are risking by challen. In her stunning New Adult debut The Wicked We Have Done Sarah Harian introduced readers to the Compass Room a twistedxperimental jail where the guilty and the innocent suffer alike But breaking out was only the beginningEven though she’s The Road to Einsteins Relativity escaped twenty two year old Evalyn Ibarra is anything but free She’s desperate to return to a life that no longerxists but pr.
Ging Gemma Branam the creator of the CR As the story moves forward Evalyn begins to get some weird messages and one of those messages leads her right to Valerie I loved seeing Evalyn s friendship with Valerie become than just a survival mechanism and these two Black Boy eventually come to depend onach other to get through their days because they have both lost an important part of themselves not only in the CR but also in the people they love There is no uestion that Evalyn is using alcohol to get through her days as well and I thought if anyone would have called her out on it it would have been Valerie but for some reason she let it slide Due to some circumstances outside of her control Evalyn Nighttime Sweethearts ends up working closely with a conspiracy group called Reprise that happens to be made up of former CR Engineers and living across the border in Canada Thengineers are the ones who know all the secrets of the Compass Room and they are also the ones that are going to help Evalyn prove what Branam and her group have been up to Just to make things a bit interesting Branam has decided she is going to do another run in a different Compass Room The problem with this for Evalyn is that Branam decided to retry Valerie and put her in the new round of criminals being put into the CR and now Evalyn and Reprise need to come up with a plan to get into the new CR and save Valerie I loved how Harian built this world out Not only is there the world that these characters live in but she goes a step further to Maternity Bride (Silhouette Desire explain to the reader how the Compass Room really works and byxposing us to the details of how it all works we also learn how Evalyn and her group of conspirators are going to save Valerie On top of all the action and intrigue there is also the romancerelationship piece to talk about Casey and Evalyn developed some strong feelings for Safe in My Arms each other and throughverything they absolutely cared about Presunta colpevole each other I think that Evalyn thought she would try to be with him butventually when she saw how things were going to Poisoned Secrets (Murder and Mayhem end up she didn t want her reputation to tarnish Casey and his situation so she made the decision to run away and not tell anyone where she was This definitely hurt Casey and when they first came back together at the Reprise hideout he wasn t in a forgiving mood regardless of her reasons I have to say that I am glad he got over it though and I think too that the whole thing shifted their relationship a bit Before it felt like Evalyn was making all the decisions and I feel like now Casey comes across as anual partner for the most part Evalyn still makes decisions without always including him but that speaks to her wanting to protect him than anything Safe Words elseThere was great progression with this story and as I saidarlier the I read in this series the I love it I love the characters that Harian has created and the world they live intry to survive in I am absolutely looking forward to the next book in the series as things got really interesting at the His To Claim (McBain Brothers Alpha, end of this book and I am curious to see where Harian takes this story If you are looking for a great dystopian that has uite a bit of action definitely check this series out Also don t forget about the novella because it gives you a different view of Valerie something you don t really get a view of in book one or two Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Group for the review copy I received this E book for free via NetGalleyPenguin inxchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my reviewGenre Speculative New AdultRating 30My ThoughtsA Vault of Sins picks up pretty much where The Wicked We Have Done left off Even though Evalyn Ibarra Casey Hargrove and Valerie Crane have survived their The Black Sheeps Baby (Into The Heartland) (Into The Heartland) Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review4 StarsI have to admit that I am a little torn about this rating Overall I liked it and read it in less than 24 hours BUT I think it had a few problems This book is the second book in the Chaos Theory series and this is a series that you really need to read in order I honestly do not think that anyone would Pursuit of Justice enjoy this book without having first read The Wicked We Have Done I really try to rate book simply on mynjoyment without over analyzing anything I went with a 4 star rating because I feel that the good in this book outweighs the not so good The GoodI absolutely loved the sexual tension between Casey and Evalyn in this book Heck I felt frustrated right along with Evalyn I think that this section of the book really cemented their relationship and feelings for Dangerous to Touch each at least in my mind I felt for Casey during his reunion with Evalyn at thend of the story I also liked that we got to see Evalyn struggle through this situation She does not handle Once Upon a Seduction (Its All About Attitude everything well and we see her turn to alcohol and shutveryone out in order to cope The friendship between Valerie and Evalyn seemed very genuine as well The Not So GoodHaven t I read this somewhere before What book series is it where the final participants Rodeo Daughter escape the test only to be returned during the second book Oh yeah and of course the male lead wants to accompany the female lead Many parts of this book are uite different but there is overlap than I would have liked to have seen This really was my main issue with this book I did also think that the book sometimes jumped from one section to the next I would have liked to see the flow of the book be much smoother I would recommend this book to those thatnjoyed the first novel in the series I plan to continue reading Sarah Harian s work including the rest of the series In A Vault of Sins we delve deeper into the workings of the Compass Room and meet those who are determined to My Guilty Pleasure (Harlequin Blaze expose the truth We spend time with the sur. Ying reporters continually draw her back into nightmarish memories using the tabloids to vilify her Bad press is the last thing she needs during the trial of the year the case that she and her fellow survivors staked against the Compass Roomngineers A case that could terminate the use of the inhumane system foreverBut in her dreams she is still locked in that terrify.
